Neustar, Inc., now a part of TransUnion, is an American technology company established in 1996, initially as a unit within Lockheed Martin to manage local number portability (LNP) challenges mandated by the U.S. government. It was spun off in 1999 to maintain neutrality. Neustar evolved into a provider of real-time information services, analytics, and identity resolution. The company offers solutions across marketing, risk, communications, and security sectors, enabling trusted connections between companies and people. Historically, Neustar served as the North American Numbering Plan Administrator (NANPA) until 2018 and managed the registries for several top-level domains like .biz, .us, .co, .nyc, and .in until its registry division was sold to GoDaddy in 2020. Its core business now focuses on providing data and technology for identity verification, fraud prevention, marketing optimization, and communication services, leveraging its OneID™ platform. Key offerings included DNS services, DDoS protection, and caller authentication, though the security services division was separated and rebranded as Vercara in 2023 after TransUnion acquired Neustar's main business in late 2021.
