About ChinaCache

Information written by company

ChinaCache (北京蓝汛通信), founded in 1998 by Song Wang, was the first and a leading provider of Internet Content Delivery Network (CDN) and application delivery services in China. Headquartered in Beijing, the company established a significant network infrastructure, interconnecting with major telecom carriers like China Mobile, China Unicom, and China Telecom, as well as local ISPs. This extensive network, comprising over 500 nodes globally and over 15,000 servers within China by its peak, allowed ChinaCache to specialize in accelerating content delivery for businesses targeting Chinese end-users, navigating the complexities of the Great Firewall. Their services included web page acceleration, file distribution, video streaming acceleration, application acceleration, managed internet data services (IDC), cloud hosting, and internet exchange operations (CHN-IX). ChinaCache primarily targeted enterprises, e-commerce platforms, media and entertainment companies, and gaming industries requiring reliable and fast content delivery within China and globally. Its unique selling point was its deep expertise and infrastructure within the challenging Chinese internet environment. The company expanded internationally, opening offices in the US, UK, and Hong Kong. It went public on NASDAQ (CCIH) in 2010 but was delisted in 2019. In 2023, EdgeNext acquired ChinaCache's overseas business, while ChinaCache continued its operations focused on the domestic Chinese market.
