Benestra was a major Slovak telecommunications operator, originating as GTS Slovakia in 1999. After several mergers and operating under the GTS brand, it was rebranded as Benestra on December 1, 2014. The company primarily served the business market, offering a wide range of services including voice, data connectivity, high-capacity internet access, hosting solutions, and cloud services, supported by its own data center in Bratislava. Benestra was notable for launching a nationwide wireless network in the 3.7 GHz band in 2015 and held ISO certifications for quality, information security, and environmental management. Focusing on B2B clients, Benestra provided robust infrastructure and telecommunication solutions across Slovakia. In January 2019, Benestra merged with SWAN, a.s., an operator focused more on residential customers. This strategic merger created SWAN, a.s., one of the largest Slovak-owned alternative telecommunications providers, combining Benestra's B2B expertise with SWAN's residential focus to offer a comprehensive portfolio under the unified SWAN brand (and 4ka for mobile B2C services).
